Hello! We are LEBO ROBOTICS.

The other day, we invited businesses and wind turbine manufacturers to our office to hold a demonstration of how we use robots to repair wind turbine blades!

In this article, we will introduce an overview of the demo, the reactions and feedback received from participants, and future developments!

Demo Overview

Event Schedule

February 18, 2025

Venue

LEBO ROBOTICS Headquarters

participants

Wind power generation companies, wind turbine manufacturers, etc.

Content

Opening Ceremony

- Demonstration of repair process using robots

・Question and Answer Session

Implementation details

On the day, the robot demonstrated the following repair process:

①Grinding (damage polishing)

Polishing scratches on wind turbine blades and preparing for repairs

② Putty application

Putty is applied by a robot to smooth out any unevenness after polishing.

③Blade forming

The shape after applying putty is adjusted to reproduce the original curve of the blade.

④ Footing polishing

Finishing the surface to the proper condition before painting improves the adhesion of the paint film

⑤Painting

The finishing touch is done by a robot painting the parts.

Through these processes, we have demonstrated that robots can perform repairs with the same or higher accuracy as manual repairs. Please take a look at the before and after condition of an actual blade repaired by a robot!

From the participants:

"It's amazing how the paint is perfectly finished despite the unevenness of the blade surface."

・" The repair work is uniform and the quality is consistent, which is impressive ."

・"I would like to consider the possibility of introducing it while taking into account the cost aspect."

We received comments such as the following, and the high level of precision and practicality of the robotic repair was highly praised!

Based on the feedback obtained through this demonstration, we will continue to provide support for further functional improvements and implementation, such as improving work speed, improving the painting unit, clarifying cost-effectiveness, and proposing individual implementation plans.
